Luis Alvarez Roure's paintings and drawings were half of a two-artist show at the Crary in 2013. Since then he has been commissioned to paint the official portrait of Warren County's Honorable Judge William Morgan and most recently, of Federal Reserve Board Chairman Paul Volcker.

Luis studied with Nelson Shanks at The Art Students League of New York and holds a M.A. from The City University of New York. He has also been mentored by renowned artist Robert A. Anderson. Most recently Luis was awarded finalist at the 2011/2012 Art Renewal Center Salon Competition and won third place at the Faces of Winter 2012, hosted by the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists. He is been also awarded finalist at the 2011 American Artist Drawing Magazine Cover Competition, where an article together with his artwork were featured.

His artwork is part of numerous private and public collections throughout the United States and abroad. Luis is also an accomplish classical pianist and teacher and graduated under the tutelage of renowned protégé and assistant of Claudio Arrau, Germán Diez. Luis lives in NJ with his wife and children.
