Wild Geometry forges a link between organic and inorganic forms, between the photographs of wildflowers by James Shirey and Pete McCutchen's "Geometrics" photo series of Las Vegas architecture. Visitors to the gallery will see this correlation clearly through the eyes of skilled photographers James Shirey - who looks deep into wildflowers and bits of ice to give up their essential structure and beauty - and Pete McCutchen - who in this series of work, isolates intriguing structures within the colorful architecture of Las Vegas. Both photographers play up the boldness of color and composition of their subjects, to dazzling effect. Their large scale photographs will be a colorful treat in the gallery this spring!
Pete McCutchen is an artist in Alexandria, VA, with a studio at the famous Torpedo Factory there. By vocation Jim Shirey is a professor of Mathematics in Athens, OH.
