Assemblages by Gerald Mead

June 9 - July 6, 2013

ADC, OG-96
Artist, independent curator, professor of art, writer, and collector Gerald Mead brings a selection of 14 of his assemblages to the Crary. He creates these poetic works from ephemera and more exotic bits of the world including vintage prints, antiquated photography equipment, and medical slides. The resulting assemblages, all on a very small scale, are arresting in their exquisite juxtapositions and skilled craftsmanship.
On display in other galleries at the Crary at the same time as this show, is a selection of 43 works from Mr. Mead's private art collection, considered the premier private collection of western New York art. We are pleased to show both exhibitions simultaneously; this is the first time they have both been displayed together.
